Hello…

Happy Weekend!

Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend so far! We’ve got families to visit for Fathers’ Day but I’m quickly popping by here to say:

Hello

Hello!

I forget about the tiny stamps in some of my sets sometimes. This flower is from Around and About Sentiments – it’s tiny and so is the tag! Why not have a dig through some of your own older sets and see what you can rustle up? Who knows, it may even fit in well with our current challenge *wink wink*

Now I’ve just gotta find something nice to attach this tag to…:)

Cardstock: Stamper’s Select White (Papertrey Ink)

CHALLENGE: It’s Elementary!

Hello PTI fans and welcome to a new challenge over here at APFP. We’re talking EARTH, WIND, AND FIRE {and water}! Yes, we want to see you include something to do with one of the four elements earth, air, fire and water. This can be incorporated in any way and PTI have TONS of stamp sets and dies that could fit in with this theme – even just a sentiment could be used (as in my example!!).

You Rock (get it? ROCK!!)

Card recipe {You Rock}:
Stamps: Boy Basics: Rock On; Grunge Me, Fillable Frames#4.
Ink: Smokey Shadow, Pure Poppy, Versamark.
Cardstock: Smokey Shadow, Stampers select white.
Other: Saddle Stich ribbon, FF#4 die, Guitar die, staples.

I used an A2 card base of Smokey Shadow card and die cut the Fillable Frame #4 shape from white and stamped it in Smokey Shadow ink. The sentiment is from BB: Rock On and is stamped in Pure Poppy with one of the Grunge Me elements. The guitar from Boy Basics: Rock On was stamped again in Smokey Shadow with a little detail added with a red ProMarker. The card base was stamped with two other elements from Grunge Me to give a bit of interest to the background and a strip of red saddle stitch ribbon was placed across the card and stapled at one end (to emphasize the rocker theme!). The focal point was then popped on to the card to one side using foam pads.

Over to Kate: ” As I rummaged through my PTI stamps I stumbled upon my Scattered Showers set, I haven’t used it much recently and thought it fitted the bill for this challenge – water! Also very topical given the amount of rain we’ve had recently! I made a real effort to get away from my normal colour combos, although a touch of Aqua Mist has slipped in there!”

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Scattered Showers
Ink: Ripe Avocado/Memento Tuxedo Black
Card: Kraft/ Ripe Avocado/ Stamper’s Select White
Paper: 2008 & 2009 Bitty Dot Basics
Other: Corner Chomper/Ripe Avocado Twill/sewing machine/Tag Sale 2

Over to Aimes:

So which element did I go for? Well as a fiery redhead I had no choice to pick fire, right *wink*

I wanted to reflect my element mainly with my colour scheme but as luck would have it, I DID have a stamp that had a flame on it!

Card Deets
{HB 2 U}
Stamps: Around and About Sentiments, Birthday Bash Sentiments (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Pure Poppy, Melon Berry, Orange Zest, Lemon Tart (Papertrey Ink)/Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Cardstock: True Black, Stamper’s Select White (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Baker’s Twine (Papertrey Ink)/Crystal Stickles (Ranger)/Chompy! (Corner Chomper – We R Memory Keepers)

It’s a very graphic card with gradient stamping to reflect the look of flames. You might not see on the pic, but my flaming candles have added sparkle too 🙂

And now our lovely June featured stamper, Moe

Hi everyone!! I am so excited to be playing along with the Passion Ladies this month 🙂 I am an ELEMENTary teacher so I had to giggle at the play on words.

The element I’ve chosen is “air.” Maybe that’s because we’ve just finished studying matter in my grade two classroom and one of the favourite experiments was blowing bubbles outside 🙂 I was first thinking hot air balloons, but the Postmarks set has been sitting on my desk waiting to be inked up. It was like it was whispering “air mail” to me. THEN I thought it would make a fun birthday card for any dear friend who lived far away (shhhhh, you don’t know anyone like that do you?). I cut the rustic cream panel to the size I wanted to use, then took out some stamps and laid them down to get a feel for size and mix of fonts and images. Then I stamped using a light gray. After, I took the “urgent” stamp and stamped it a few times randomly…love that look. I added the sweet little Love Lives Here butterfly stamped with the coordinating image, added some fun distressed dots paper and, of course, my beloved berry sorbet ribbon. I picked a bold sentiment from Big Birthday Wishes and added some bling.

Now that I think of it, there’s a bit of irony with this card…our Canadian Postal workers are on strike right now (ugh!). They are on a rotating strike, though, so mail is moving, just a little more slower than before.

Can’t wait to see what you all come up with!!

So what can you win this time around?

A fabulous Fillable Frames#8 stamp set.

Sweet inspiration!

Hey folks, happy Monday and welcome to a brand new challenge. This week we have a yummy scrummy photo-inspiration challenge for you. The photo has come from an amazing blog, Glorious Treats – I recommend a visit – WOW! Here’s what Kate has picked to get our creative juices flowing:

I knew as soon as I saw it that my card would have to feature my beloved Heart Prints set. I also used the Banner Builder set for the first time too – love it! The patterned paper is from the Simple Valentine collection which is just a perfect match to the designs on some of the cookies in the photo. Mmmmmm, cookies!

Caryn xxx

Card Details
I {heart} U
Stamps: Heart Prints, Banner Builder
Ink: Pure Poppy, Hibiscus Burst
Cardstock: True Black
Patterned Paper: Simple Valentine
Ribbon: Hibiscus Burst
Accesories: 1 3/4 ” circle punch,

Over to Aimes
“Well I had a trusty old set sat on my table from a previous inky session: Around and About Sentiments. I forget just how sweet that set is and I found it totally fitted in with this fortnight’s challenge!

Ink: Sweet Blush, Raspberry Fizz, Pure Poppy, Dark Chocolate
Cardstock: Stamper’s Select White

Wouldn’t you agree? If you’ve got this set, you’ll realise that this is a tiny card: I have to confess that in my book when it comes to cards the smaller the sweeter 😀 Ooh and a good dollop of Glossy Accents also helps sweeten up that larger heart with some super shiny goodness – though my photography struggles to capture it!”

Over to Kate: “Like Caryn the gorgeous photo made my head straight for my Simple Valentine papers and Heart Print stamp set. I kept it CAS – just the way I like it ;)”

Just for YOU!

Happy weekend, Peeps!

Anyone up to anything interesting this weekend? I’m grateful for the nice little lie-in, the relaxed breakfast of Fluff! on toast in my PJs and checkin out blogland so far before I get inky in my corner later today (that’s after I’ve tidied it up a bit *wink*)

But lemme share a mini card with you first:

This is a real mini card measuring only 2.5″ square – it’s so little that I think I may lose it! I’ve decided to dedicate this card to YOU. I can’t quite believe it, but we’ve hit 400 followers here on A Passion for Papertrey this week (no doubt the number will fluctuate, but at the time of typing this, it’s 400!) so thank you for all your support, encouraging comments, and participation in our challenges!

Speaking of which, if you haven’t already played along with our current challenge there’s still time! I’m loving the entries we’ve had so far…

Right, I’m now off to tidy up my creative mess 🙂

Punch It!

So, ready for a new challenge?! After going dotty for the past fortnight, we wanna see you pack a punch! Well not the violent kind, we’re talking about the paper kind of punching of course! So c’mon, dig out those paper punches and see what you come up with! Don’t have a paper/border punch? Well we’ll let you off if you use a die-cut because it’s almost the same kinda thing….but everyone has a regular paper hole punch don’t they?! Could you use that creatively I wonder?!

I’ll confess that I went a little ‘punch crazy’ on my example – I couldn’t resist! So here’s my example with not one, not two, but three paper punches (can you spot them all?!)

I’ve a little bit of an addiction creating these kinda 3D, doily, fan things too! Just love the dimension they add to a card!

Now I’m gonna cover for my PTI partner in crime, Kate for this challenge. Kate is super duper busy at the moment, so she may pop by with a card later on in the week!

So that leaves you with an example from our featured stamper for September, Margaret! Here’s Margaret’s lovely autumnal take on the challenge:

“This card was a bit of a challenge for me as I don’t really use the many punches I have – most are a bit twee. However, despite the start of an Indian Summer here in Scotland, Autumn is very much on my mind, especially as the trees are on the cusp of turning – really, they are!

Remember how I love CASEing people ? Well, I saw a card by Erin Lincoln at Procrastination Station on the 19th of August where she uses the PTI Autumn Abundance set on Mat Stack 3 ( turns out she’d CASEd Nichole Heady, so if it’s good enough for those girls… !) I love it when you can multi-purpose stuff – another great feature of much of the PTI range !

I kinda had leaves tumbling over the card in my mind but I couldn’t really make that work as I felt the leaves were too “solid” both in texture and shape. I then came up with the wreath/frame idea, but needed to vary the leaves a bit so I puddled Glimmer Mists to make a variegated cardstock to punch the leaves from – I thought it would be nice to have the leaves curving. However, they needed more of a “grounding” and that’s where the Rubber Tapestry stamps came in, stamped in Kaleidacolour Autumn Leaves – you can just see them peeking behind the wreath. Yup, PTI works FABULOUSLY with other ranges of stamps – and it is allowed, folks !!

Oh, I also scored a border around the square card, just to contain it all.

The main image from PTI Autumn Abundance was stamped and coloured with Koh-I-Noor Pencils then I used Crackle Glaze to …erm…. crackle glaze it (??!) When that was dried, I rubbed Distress Tea-dye ink over to highlight the crackle. Doesn’t that sound a nice, calm creative process ? Want to hear the real monologue in my head from this morning ? Then pop on over to my blog – although, be warned, it ain’t pretty …”

So you ready to play along? Here are the deets:

Cards for challenges (and fun too!)

Hey!

What a fabulous week it’s turning out to be! Not only this super sunny weather, but also the fab time I had yesterday meeting up with some fellow PTI Addicts (Caryn and Taheerah) to have a girly night at the Trafford Centre!

Just sharing a couple of cards today for challenges that I just had to play along with and had lots of fun doing so in the process!

This was for the Embellish Challenge, which I personally think was thought of with me in mind LOL! Earthy tone, green, and the requirement of a butterfly on your project really got my mojo going!

Now I used a butterfly punch that I’m totally guilty of neglecting. I really should use the supplies I convince myself I NEED more often!

Card Recipe
Stamps: Around and About Sentiments/Polka Dot Basics II
Ink: Memento Black/Versamark
Card: Kraft (from stash)/PTI True Black and Spring Moss
Paper: PTI Bitty Box Basics Spring Moss/True Black
Accessoreis: Cuttlebug/Nestabilities/EK Success Border Punch/Tonic Butterfly Punch/Jute Ribbon Twine/Corner Rounder Punch/PTI Button

And speaking of challenge, here’s another card I entered for a Paper Crafts challenge which was based on a sketch that I kinda followed….well I missed some of that sketch off but I still like the card *grin*!

I die cut a load of flowers from tissue paper that you get your precious PTI stamps wrapped in and layered them to make these pretty blooms.

I’m thinking of giving this to a happy couple who are about to get married very soon – it kinda makes me think of a wedding with all that white!

Card Recipe
Stamps: PTI Damask Designs
Ink: PTI Smokey Shadow
Card: PTI Stamper’s Select White
Accessories: Cuttlebug/Nestabilities/Cuttlebug Flower Die/PTI Impression Plate/PTI Vintage Buttons/Hero Arts Pearls/Tissue Paper

Hope y’all having a fab week so far, I’m kinda sad it’s Friday tomorrow; why is it that a week off just flies by and a week at work drags by slowly *sigh*

It’s written in the sky…

Hey!

Happy Friday, Peeps!!! Can’t believe it’s Friday already! Where did this week disappear to?!

I’m sharing a card today that uses the same idea as my ‘Material Girl’ challenge example (There’s still time to enter that challenge y’know ;D)

Instead of a felt butterfly, I used the cute lil‘ plane from Tiny Treats: Valentine. Isn’t it sweet?! A fellow blogger liked my idea and took it a step further using this plane and I couldn’t resist trying it out myself!

The clouds in the background have been made by cutting a few Scalloped Oval Nesties and sponging Spring Rain ink around them. I’ve seen this done quite a bit recently and it beats having to cut precious DP covered in fluffy clouds! The best part is that as skies are pretty random, you can’t go too wrong on the placement of the clouds!

Card Recipe
(PTI Supplies)
Stamps: Around and About Sentiments/Tiny Treats: Valentine/Polka Dot Basics II
Ink: Spring Rain/Versamark/Memento Black
Cardstock: Stamper’s Select White/Pure Poppy/Spring Rain
Accessories: Clear EP/Machiney/EK Success Border Punch Embossed Scallop/Corner Punch

I’m also starting to learn to love my sewing machine (aka Machiney). I think it’s gonna be a relationship full of ups and downs but for the meantime, he’s in my good books LOL!

And on another note, did you check out the new Papertrey release this month?! I’m seriously loving a lot of that release and I just know that there’s a couple of sets that are sure to be my go-to sets (especially for masculine cards!) We’d love to hear what you thought of it all!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Material Girl!

Hi!

Hope you’ve all had a fabulous Easter and are enjoying Easter Monday (if you’re lucky enough to be off for it!) anyone feeling sick at the sight of chocolate yet?! LOL!

So even though it’s Easter Monday, it’s still Monday nevertheless so it’s time for a new challenge! Thanks so much to everyone who participated in our last challenge – we had a fabulous response and I can’t believe the amazing creations I came across from beautiful cards to fabulous notepads to the sweetest treat holders! Definitely got my inspiration for next Easter ;D

So as our title suggests, for this fortnight’s challenge we want you to think about using Material. Now don’t shy away if you’re not a seamstress, I’m not one either! When we say material we’re not thinking ribbon but more like fabrics, felts etc…

Fancy cheating? You can even use a pre-bought material embellishment (I’ve been loving those crocheted flowers I’ve seen everywhere recently!) or feel free to make your own material embellishment. Not feeling like making an embellishment? Then use some fabric to add a layer to your creation. Anything, so long as it’s material, will count!

So for my example I decided to finally use that PTI Butterfly Die that had been waiting so patiently to be run through my cuttlebug with some felt I had lying around!

Card Recipe
Stamps: Around and About Sentiments
Ink: Ripe Avocado
Card: Dark Chocolate/Vintage Cream/Turning A New Leaf DPs
Accessories: Butterfly Die/Cuttlebug/Paper Piercer/Brown Felt/Ripe Avocado Button/Jute Button Twine/Dark Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon
/Apron Lace Border Punch

Here’s Kate: “I decided to pull out my Beautiful Blooms set – one of the first PTI sets I bought! I used some Cuttlebug flower dies to make and layer the flowers”

Recipe:
Stamps – Beautiful Blooms/Damask Designs
Ink – Ripe avocado/Versafine
Card – Ripe Avocado/Plum Pudding/Vintage Cream
Other – Cuttlebug Flower dies/felt/Plum Pudding buttons and ribbon

As our featured stamper for April, Dana rolled out the fabric to come up with this super sweet creation:

There’s something so fitting about using material on baby cards!

Stamps: PTI Baby Button Bits
Ink: PTI True Black, PTI Hawaiian Shores
Cardstock: PTI Rustic Cream, PTI Kraft
Other: IKEA Bomull fabric, EK Success Epoxy Dome Stickers, pinking shears, sewing machine / thread, Copic Markers (E44, E55, BG13), Tombow glue roller, Dove Craft foam squares

So here are the deets:

* All entries must contain at least one PTI product to qualify

* To enter, use our inlinkz thingy at the bottom of this post. If you’re having problems then just leave a comment with a link to your post featuring the project on your blog or online gallery.

* Worldwide entries are more than welcome to share the inspiration and can be in with a chance of being a Top 3 PTI Passionista, but unfortunately prizes can only be shipped within Europe!

* Challenge closes on Monday, April 19th 2010 at 9.00am GMT

This time it’s all about the bling, baby! To join the challenge we want to see some bling on your cards – it can be any type of bling – gems, gliiter – so long as it sparkles, anything goes!!

The bling on my samples is quite subtle (so subtle I’m not sure you can even really notice it from the pictures lol!) – there are 3 rhinestones in the centre of the poinsietta, and the Flourishes are stamped in Versamark Dazzle Champagne ink which has a fabulous soft shimmer:
