Polka Dot Snow

Hi!

I’m flying by (or should that be sliding along with today’s snow and ice!) to share a card with ya:

Happy Holidays

This card could pretty much qualify for our current challenge with it’s red and white combo. It’s also a pretty fitting card to share on here today considering the snow and ice we’ve had here in the heights of the Peak District! I love snow, but I sure don’t love driving in it!

Stay safe and warm wherever you are and while you’re at it, why not join in this challenge too? 🙂

Card Deets
{Happy Holidays}
Stamps: Holiday Tree, Polka Dot Basics II, Holiday Signature Greetings (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: London Fog, Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Cardstock: Stamper’s Select White, Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink)

Tag – you’re it!

Firstly apologies that our linky thingy was no longer available for you peeps cutting it close to our deadline for the last challenge. Thanks for leaving your links in the comments section for us! We do know of the extra entries that were entered after it decided to be naughty don’t worry, you’ll be included when we draw a winner and decide on our Top 3 🙂

How about we start over again with a new challenge and hopefully with a linky tool that works (fingers crossed!)?! Sounds like a fun idea to me! So for this fortnight’s challenge we wanna see your fabulous takes on gift tags!

I fancied making a tag suitable for any one of the guys in my family (both young and old!) and also wanted to show you that you can play Tag too even if you don’t have a tag-shaped die:

I simply used the Mat Stack 1 Die, punched a hole and set an eyelet in the top – voila! A tag! It actually felt good to use one of the many thousands of eyelets I’ve hoarded from an era when they were popular LOL! Oooh and a bit of masking on my “Dude You Rock!” sentiment stamp provides the shortened sentiment and gives even more value for money on a sweet stamp 😀

Tag Deets
{You Rock}
Stamps: Fancy Flourishes, Star Prints, Signature Greetings (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Ocean Tides
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)/Versamark
Patterned Paper: Pure Poppy Bitty Box Basics
Accessories: True Black Vintage Button, Jute Ribbon Twine

And now over to Caryn….

Hey everyone, are you all enjoying the anniversary celebrations so far on Nichole’s blog? Yesterday there was a free download of some cute tags created by each of PTI’s stamp designers – did you get it?? Well, I urge you to go grab it, there’s some gorgeous images on there, one of which I have used here on my tag. This one is from Heather Nichols. Kate and Aimes will probably be rolling their eyes at me (wink) for using Pure Poppy again but it literally goes with just about everything (not sure about Melon Berry – haven’t tried that combo….). I have used Polka Dot Basics II and embossed it with clear powder on the background and coloured the flower on the image in with a red ProMarker as the original is Melon Berry and I wanted it red!!

And here’s a close up!

{Card recipe}
Free anniversary download
Stamps: Polka Dot Basics II, Banner Builder
Cardstock: Spring Moss, Pure Poppy.
Ink: Pure Poppy
Other: Pure Poppy dating dots ribbon, Pure Poppy bakers twine, Promarker

Here’s Kate:

For my tags I played around with one of my favourite colour combos – kraft and aqua mist – some new dies and some felt.

All the PTI dies make tag-making so fun!!

These parcels are going to two very special ladies who deserve a special tag, and I’m definitely going to be making more tags in the future!

Finally, as our featured stamper for February, here’s Imke’s fabulous tag:

I think you’ll agree that this one amazing tag!

So ready to play ‘Tag’?! I hope so! Up for grabs for one randomly selected peep will be this Fillable Frames #11 stamp set:

But before you dash – here are those all important deets:

Background Basics…

Ahhh! Christmas: the presents have been unwrapped, the turkey has been cooked (and a month’s worth remains in the fridge), and I’ve still got numb fingers from building lots of Lego toys with my nieces a nephews! Love it! I hope you’ve all had a happy Holiday
too!

Apologies for this challenge being posted later than usual: straight after Christmas I had a birthday to celebrate and a very snowy wedding to attend! I’m still recovering from the drinking, eating, celebrating and socialising (not necessarily in that order) that I can’t believe I’ve even managed to get my head around posting this challenge!

We know it’s still a super busy time of year so our challenge is pretty simple to join along with if you’re lucky enough to find a few spare, inky moments *wink* For this fortnight’s challenge we’d like to see how you use your background stamp sets on your projects. Don’t own a background set? Then get creative and make your own if you fancy it!

My example is actually the card I gave to my mum for her Birthday (celebrated on Boxing Day so it’s present galore all over again for us!)

Card Deets
{happy biRthDay}
Stamps: Birthday Bash Sentiments, Polka Dot Basics II
Ink: Spring Rain (Papertrey Ink)/London Fog (Memento)
Cardstock: White and Pink Shimmer Cardstock (Papetrey Ink)
Accessories: Fresh Snow Satin Ribbon (Papertrey Ink)/Chompy (Corner Rounder)/Ribbon (Scraps!)/Clear Gem (Hero Arts)

I do think Polka Dot Basics II is my most favourite background stamp set ever (don’t tell my other sets that though!) nothing like a few polka dots to add an element of fun to a project!

Over to Kate:

“A very Happy Christmas to you all! I hope everyone has had a happy and peaceful few days, and now the festivities have quietened down a bit maybe you’re even finding time to sneak into your craft room! My samples for this challenge are some Christmas cards I made a few weeks ago – I went for a slightly unusual Christmas colour (Hawai’in Shores) then like the card (and the speed with which it came together!) that I made a few more in other PTI colours:

Hawai’in Shores:

Ocean Tides:

Enchanted Evening:

Raspberry Fizz:

Recipe:

Stamps: Peaceful Poinsettia (background stamp)/2010 Holiday Tags
Ink: Fresh Snow/Versafine Black
Other: Adhesive Gems/Mat Stack 3 Die/White Grosgrain Ribbon

Over to Caryn:

“Hi there folks and a happy holiday season to you all. We have had another fantastic Christmas in our house and once again everyone is feeling very happy and a bit spoiled – me included! My card sample this week is, I’m sorry to say, ANOTHER Christmas card!! I know, probably the last thing you all want to see now but all I’ve made recently are Christmas cards, I can’t think about anything else at this time of year. This card features the Big and Bold Holiday Wishes and Background Basics: Christmas sets. I love that little peppermint background stamp! Now I promise my next challenge card won’t be a Christmas card – although I fully intend to make them throughout the year so there’s no panicking at the end as usual!!”

And as our featured stamper for December, here’s Aga:

“I love stamping custom backgrounds. It’s a quick and easy way to create your own patterned paper and it gives you an almost endless possibility to create something unique!

Here are my samples of background stamping: two cards I made using one stamp from Guide Lines set. The sentiment comes from Blooming Button Bits set. Both are super quick and easy to make!”

So what else could tempt you to play along with us this fortnight? Well how about a sweet little stamp set:
Yup, one randomly selected European peep could be the owner of this new Signature Series: Cupcake mini stamp set!

Ready to play along? I hope so! Here’s the deets:
* All entries must contain at least one PTI product to qualify (please state what is PTI as sometimes for us it’s hard to tell :D)

* To enter, use our inlinkz thingy at the bottom of this post (be aware that we’ve got a text based linky thing and not a piccy one at the moment!). Please leave the correct URL for your entry post and not just your generic blog address! If you’re having problems then just leave a comment with a link to your post featuring the project on your blog or online gallery.

* Worldwide entries are more than welcome to share the inspiration and can be in with a chance of being a Top 3 PTI Passionista, but unfortunately prizes can only be shipped within Europe!

* Challenge closes on Monday, January 10th 2011 at 9.00am GMT

* As well as a randomly picked winner, we’ll select the top three creations we like the most and feature them on the Blog. The top three PTI Passionistas will have chance to display a Top 3 Passionista Blinkie on their own blog.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Happy, Happy, Happy…

Saturday already! Can’t quite believe how quick the weeks are zooming by, is it really only 35 days until Christmas?!?! Eeek! I’ve only made one Christmas card so far……

So in typical Aimes style, I’ll be making Christmas cards on Christmas Eve no doubt. But I digress anyways as I’m sharing a Birthday card with you today and not a Christmas one!

A pretty bright colour combo for me but the recipient of this card was my niece who wouldn’t appreciate my preferred muted colour palette. Don’t tell anyone, but I actually enjoyed playing with such bright, fun colours; it certainly brightened me up!

Hope your weekend is super bright too, maybe just with the crafting if the weather where you are is anything like it is here in Sheffield today!

Oooh and if you’ve got some scraps to use up, then why not spend the perfect day crafting away with ’em for our current challenge *wink*

Right, I’m off to make a real start on some Christmas cards…..

Challenge: Long & Tall

Hey!

Time for a new challenge methinks! So after totally conquering our last challenge, are you ready for something a little different? I hope so!

For this fortnight’s challenge we want to see your own takes on Long and Tall cards. I know myself I tend to get stuck in a pattern of making 4.25″x5.5″ cards so like to break out every now and again and challenge myself to a different shape.

Here’s my example:

OK I know this looks like a pretty uneventful card – I mean that chair is hardly inviting enough to make anyone feel better….hmmm…..I wonder if I could change that chair somehow….Oh c’mon you know me, I like a lil‘ bit of magic every now and again…..just pull up that terracotta ribbon….
….a bit more….

Ta-dah!!!!

Card Recipe

Stamps: On My Couch/On My Couch Additions/Polka Dot Basics II
Ink: Terracotta Tile/Versamark/Stazon Black
Cardstock: Smokey Shadow/Terracotta Tile/Ripe Avocado
Accessories: Acetate/Ripe Avocado Grosgrain Ribbon/ Fiskars Border Punch/Corner Rounder/Nesties/Fresh Snow Twill/Brads

Oh this card made my guy really smile so know it’s gotta be suitable for giving to my Dad to cheer up his recovery after his stressful weeks in hospital.

Over to Kate:
“When I was looking through my PTI stamps for a good set to make a tall card with, I came across my little-used ‘Take Three Spring’ set and thought the three leaf images would be perfect for a bright and summery birthday card.”

Recipe:
Stamps: Take Three – Spring
Card: Stamper’s Select White/Raspberry Fizz
Ink: Colorbox chalk/Versamagic/Versafine Black
Other: Corner Chomper/Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing folder

And as our featured stamper for this month, here’s Caryn’s fabulous take on the challenge:
“I’m normally very square so this was a real challenge for me!! I used rustic cream for the base (half sheet of card folded in half lengthways), then with a mount of Pure Poppy layered with the spotty paper from the Rustic Snowflakes paper collection. I stamped the outline image of the large flower from Peaceful Poinsettias twice onto cream card and coloured them with ProMarkers (Berry Red and Ruby). The centres have been glittered with black fine glitter. The sentiment has been stamped and mounted on Rustic Cream and Pure Poppy and then the card has been finished with True Black twill ribbon.”

Have we convinced you to join in our challenge yet? I hope so, but just in case you need some more persuading, if you live within Europe you could be the lucky winner of this:

A sheet of each design of PTI’s Dotty Biscotti (6 sheets in total) plus a whole reel of Plum Pudding grosgrain ribbon!

OK so here are the deets:
* All entries must contain at least one PTI product to qualify

* To enter, use our inlinkz thingy at the bottom of this post.

* Challenge closes on Monday, August 23rd 2010 at 9.00am GMT

* A winner will be chosen at random to receive some PTI goodies! In addition to this, we’ll select the top three creations we like the most and feature them on the Blog. The top three PTI Passionistas will have chance to display a Top 3 Passionista Blinkie on their own blog.

Have fun with this challenge – we can’t wait to see what long and tall creations you come up with!

Cards for challenges (and fun too!)

Hey!

What a fabulous week it’s turning out to be! Not only this super sunny weather, but also the fab time I had yesterday meeting up with some fellow PTI Addicts (Caryn and Taheerah) to have a girly night at the Trafford Centre!

Just sharing a couple of cards today for challenges that I just had to play along with and had lots of fun doing so in the process!

This was for the Embellish Challenge, which I personally think was thought of with me in mind LOL! Earthy tone, green, and the requirement of a butterfly on your project really got my mojo going!

Now I used a butterfly punch that I’m totally guilty of neglecting. I really should use the supplies I convince myself I NEED more often!

Card Recipe
Stamps: Around and About Sentiments/Polka Dot Basics II
Ink: Memento Black/Versamark
Card: Kraft (from stash)/PTI True Black and Spring Moss
Paper: PTI Bitty Box Basics Spring Moss/True Black
Accessoreis: Cuttlebug/Nestabilities/EK Success Border Punch/Tonic Butterfly Punch/Jute Ribbon Twine/Corner Rounder Punch/PTI Button

And speaking of challenge, here’s another card I entered for a Paper Crafts challenge which was based on a sketch that I kinda followed….well I missed some of that sketch off but I still like the card *grin*!

I die cut a load of flowers from tissue paper that you get your precious PTI stamps wrapped in and layered them to make these pretty blooms.

I’m thinking of giving this to a happy couple who are about to get married very soon – it kinda makes me think of a wedding with all that white!

Card Recipe
Stamps: PTI Damask Designs
Ink: PTI Smokey Shadow
Card: PTI Stamper’s Select White
Accessories: Cuttlebug/Nestabilities/Cuttlebug Flower Die/PTI Impression Plate/PTI Vintage Buttons/Hero Arts Pearls/Tissue Paper

Hope y’all having a fab week so far, I’m kinda sad it’s Friday tomorrow; why is it that a week off just flies by and a week at work drags by slowly *sigh*

Home Sweet Home

Hey!

Happy Wednesday! We’re nearly there, Peeps! I can see the weekend approaching, and a fabulous Bank Holiday one at that for us – woo hoo!!! Phew! Work has just been manic this week so I’ll be grateful for a few days to catch up with everything!

Anyways, enough of my busy week, how about a card?

I made this quite a while ago for my partner in PTI crime, Kate! It took ages to go through the post, I’ve no idea why but it delayed me in posting it up here and then I kinda forgot about it hiding in my documents!
Card Recipe
Stamps: Papertrey Ink Daily Designs/Daily Designs Sentiment/Polka Dot Basics II
Ink: Versamark/Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate/Aqua Mist/Raspberry Fizz/Kraft
Accessories: Papertrey Ink Raspberry Fizz Grosgrain Ribbon/Martha Stewart Border Punch/Cuttlebug/Nestabilities/Promarkers

Needless to say I always turn to Aqua Mist for my buddy, but now I’m thinking I may have to turn to Hawaiian Shores for her…or maybe both?! LOL!

This was made before my guilty crafty indulgence of a fab apron-lace border punch…to create my punched edges for this card, I used my trusty dotted scalloped border punch and aligned the dots right up to the edge of the Aqua Mist cardstock. It gives a kinda apron-lace effect though it’s no substitute for the real deal ;D

Hope y’all having a fab week so far…thanks so much to all that have entered our current challenge so far, I’m loving your entries and hope to catch up ‘properly’ this weekend!

It’s written in the sky…

Hey!

Happy Friday, Peeps!!! Can’t believe it’s Friday already! Where did this week disappear to?!

I’m sharing a card today that uses the same idea as my ‘Material Girl’ challenge example (There’s still time to enter that challenge y’know ;D)

Instead of a felt butterfly, I used the cute lil‘ plane from Tiny Treats: Valentine. Isn’t it sweet?! A fellow blogger liked my idea and took it a step further using this plane and I couldn’t resist trying it out myself!

The clouds in the background have been made by cutting a few Scalloped Oval Nesties and sponging Spring Rain ink around them. I’ve seen this done quite a bit recently and it beats having to cut precious DP covered in fluffy clouds! The best part is that as skies are pretty random, you can’t go too wrong on the placement of the clouds!

Card Recipe
(PTI Supplies)
Stamps: Around and About Sentiments/Tiny Treats: Valentine/Polka Dot Basics II
Ink: Spring Rain/Versamark/Memento Black
Cardstock: Stamper’s Select White/Pure Poppy/Spring Rain
Accessories: Clear EP/Machiney/EK Success Border Punch Embossed Scallop/Corner Punch

I’m also starting to learn to love my sewing machine (aka Machiney). I think it’s gonna be a relationship full of ups and downs but for the meantime, he’s in my good books LOL!

And on another note, did you check out the new Papertrey release this month?! I’m seriously loving a lot of that release and I just know that there’s a couple of sets that are sure to be my go-to sets (especially for masculine cards!) We’d love to hear what you thought of it all!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Challenge: Easter/Spring is here!

Hello and welcome to another challenge! I know it’s come around very quickly but Easter is nearly upon us, so it seemed fitting for us to set an Easter theme challenge!

If you don’t own any Easter stamps do feel free to make a ‘Spring’ themed card instead!

I decided to use a zingy colour combo for mine – maybe not a traditional Easter colour combination but I love it!

Recipe:

Stamps – Take Three Spring
Ink – Summer Sunrise
Card – Stamper’s Select White/Summer Sunrise/Raspberry Fizz
Paper – Pretty Pastels
Other – Summer Sunrise & Raspberry Fizz buttons/corner rounder punch

Here’s Aimes:
“Well I don’t actually own any Easter stamps *gasp* we tend to focus on the scoffing of Easter treats rather than exchanging cards LOL! With this in mind, I decided to make a little treat box to fill with mini-eggs to celebrate spring/Easter. I was planning on using some yummy mini eggs as props for my photo but they’ve gone missing….;D”

Box Recipe

Stamps: Daily Designs/Daily Design Sentiments/Polka Dot Basics II
Ink: Versamark/Dark Chocolate/Summer Sunrise
Cardstock: Spring Moss/Melon Berry/Vintage Cream
Accessories: Cuttlebug/Nestabilities/Lemon Tart Grosgrain Ribbon/Melon Berry Vintage Button/White Button Twine/Scalloped Edged Scissors

As our featured stamper, here is Katie’s beautiful sample:

PTI Bitty Box Basics 2008 cardstock (Dark Chocolate)
PTI Perfect Match Cardstock (Summer Sunrise)
PTI Button (Summer Sunrise)
Other products used: Papermania gems, Memento “Rich Cocoa” ink, white card, cord,
Tools used: Martha Stewart Embossed, zig zag border punch, Cutter Bee

Here are the details:

* Challenge closes on Monday, April 5th 2010 at 9.00am GMT

Welcome, Little One!

Hi everybody!

This is Vanessa with my last post as Aimes’ and Kate’s featured stamper. *Sob*. I so enjoyed sharing my work with you and appreciated all your sweet comments! A friend had her second baby recently and I made her this little set for her son:

Supplies:

Cardstock: (Spring Rain, Enchanted Evening) PTI, Patterned Paper: (Pretty Pastels) PTI, Stamps: (Background Basics: Dots II, Baby Button Bits) PTI, Ink: (Versamark Watermark Ink, Memento Black Tuxedo, Blue Dye Ink) Tsukineko, Accents: (Enchanted Evening Vintage Buttons) PTI, Fibers: (Babyblue Polkadot Ribbon) Craftshop, Dies: (Small Rectangles, Small Scalloped Rectangles) Spellbinders, Markers: Copic, Tools: (Die-Cutting Machine) Provo-Craft, (Border Punch) EK-Success

Love to use the PTI gable boxes for this purpose! They have the perfect size for baby gifts. I tried to make it look clean, because it is for a boy – for a girl I would have used more embellishments and nick-nacks 🙂

I hope you like it! Thank you for visiting and thanks again to Kate and Aimes! You are so sweet and I adore your work!

Hugs,

Vanessa xx
