It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

OK Peeps! Ready for a new challenge?! Well we know how busy you all are around this time of year, so we’ve decided to keep this fortnight’s challenge super simple. All we wanna see is a creation with a holiday/Christmas theme. That’s right, if you haven’t already, it’s probably best you get a move on and create something for the holidays (and that includes any other religious celebrations such as Hanukkah too!) and we’re hoping this challenge with give some of us, (me!) a nudge in the right direction *wink*!

Now don’t restrict yourself to cards; anything goes for this challenge! Though I myself really needed to get a move on and actually make some cards before I can even begin to think of making anything else!

I like to keep things Clean and Simple (CAS) when it comes to Christmas cards. Not only is it my fave kinda style – it’s fab for the mad mass production. I just change the colours every so often to keep my mind from going numb from repetition 😀

So here’s the first frosty li’l number:

Card Deets
{We Wish you a Merry Christmas}
Stamps: Holiday Signature Greetings, Fancy Flourishes (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: London Fog (Memento)/Versamark
Cardstock: Stamper’s Select White, Spring Rain, White Shimmer Cardstock (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Snowflake Die (Provocraft)/Nestabilities/Lavender Moon Grosgrain Ribbon (Papertrey Ink)/Shimmer Chalks/Bling (Zva)/’Chompy‘ (Corner Chomper!)

And here’s one that uses a more traditional Christmas colour combo:

Card Deets
{‘Tis The Season}
Stamps: Holiday Signature Greetings, Fancy Flourishes (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Pure Poppy, Simply Chartreuse, Kraft (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Fresh Snow,Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)/Versamark
Accessories: Glimmer Mist/Cuttlebug/Snowflake Die (Provocraft)/Nestabilities/Fine Linen Grosgrain Ribbon (Papertrey Ink)/Bling (Zva)/Promarker (To colour my clear bling!)/Chompy (Corner Chomper)

See what a difference simply changing the colours can make?! Now you can’t tell on the pics, but there’s lots of subtle shimmer going off, especially on that first card. Using PTI’s Shimmer Cardstock adds that extra bit of Christmas magic IMHO, and Glimmer Mists are fab for added extra shimmer if you haven’t got fancy cardstock to start with!”

Over to Caryn:

“I have gone for a clean and simple approach with this design – so I can easily mass-produce it!! The Tiny Treats: Christmas set means I can do loads of different versions of this without them all needing to be identical. I still have mountains of cards to do so anything that can reduce my workload is good in my book, lol. I adore using Kraft card at the moment and paired with one of my all-time favourite colour combos – Aqua Mist and Pure Poppy, I am pretty happy with the look. I added a teeny bit of my newest obsession, Pure Poppy baker’s twine and an Aqua Mist button to add a wee bit of extra interest and to ground the focal image.”

Here’s Kate:

“Like Caryn I inked up my new Tiny Treats Christmas set for my sample – this has to be one of the most adorable sets ever! I used one of my favourite Christmas colour combos – red, white and kraft – a perfect match for those cute candy canes!”

Recipe:

Stamps: Tiny Treats Christmas/Peaceful Poinsetta
Card: Stampers Select White/Kraft/Pure Poppy/Scarlet Jewel
Ink: Memento Black/Colorbox Chalk
Other: Circle Nestabilities/Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder/Mat Stack No 1 Die/Corner Chomper/Fine Linen Buttons/Copic Markers

Over to our fabulous featured stamper, Bev!

“Christmas has arrived early in the North East of England with lots and lots AND LOTS of SNOW! After being a bit ‘mojoless‘, the snow has certainly got me in the Christmas spirit! It’s a good job as planning, as always, hasn’t gone to plan when it comes to my Christmas cards! As always I still have tons to make! I needed some quick & easy cards that didn’t use too much of my precious PTI supplies and this is what I came up with.

These little cuties are only 7 cm X 10.5 cm which means you can get 4 out of one sheet of card stock! I used some precious Pure Poppy felt on these 4 but when I go full pelt to cranking these out I think I will just use Pure Poppy card stock!

It’s hard to see in the photo’s but I used some PTI Shimmer card stock & coloured the images with Copic Spica pens to add some sparkle. Some Pure Poppy Bakers Twine and some snowflakes finished them off!

I hope I have inspired you to create some mini Christmas cards!”

Need more tempting to get crafting for Christmas? Well one randomly selected peep will win this super sweet stamp set, fly away!

Here are the deets:
* All entries must contain at least one PTI product to qualify (please state what is PTI as sometimes for us it’s hard to tell :D)

* As well as a randomly picked winner, we’ll select the top three creations we like the most and feature them on the Blog. The top three PTI Passionistas will have chance to display a Top 3 Passionista Blinkie on their own blog.

We can’t wait to see you get in the Christmas spirit too!

Button Love…

Happy Sunday! Hope you’ve all had a great weekend so far…maybe even squeezed in a few fireworks and got your teeth stuck around some bonfire toffee….*wink*

I’m stopping by today with a card that I’ve been itching to share on here for ages! So without further ado, here it is:

Would you belive that I made this card about a month ago?! This was made for my very own gorgeous guy to celebrate our 10 year anniversary on October 14th. No, we’re not married but we count the years from that fateful night I made him ask me out he asked me out LOL!

This card certainly shows how much I love him so: I mean, who else could I create a card for using not only so many of my precious buttons, but my precious green buttons! Oh if only his favourite colour was Melon Berry: then I wouldn’t be feeling slightly anxious about just how many buttons I used on his card…

Wishing you a relaxing Sunday!

Happy WCMD!

HAPPY WORLD CARD MAKING DAY, PEEPS!

Can I get a “woo hoofor a day dedicated to this fabulous hobby of ours?! Not that we ever need an excuse to get inky, but it sure helps to have a reason to clear your schedule to play doesn’t it?! *wink*

I haven’t made anything yet today, but I hope by sharing this card I can solve the mystery of creating these shaped cards. Some of you have been asking how I make these and they’re so easy once you know how!

Firstly, create a basic card base. (I started with a 5×5 card blank) Then you need to pick what shape you’d like your card to be; as you know, I’m a fan of my Labels One Nesties.

Now here’s the most tricky part (and it’s not that tricky); when you use your die, just leave a bit of space at the top so it won’t cut through the fold at the top of your card base. Otherwise you’d just end up with two separate die cut shapes!

Run it through your die cutting machine. Now the top of your card base will be flat and not shaped but don’t panic! To create the front cut a full shape out of your desired cardstock (on this example it’s Scarlet Jewel) and attach it to the front!

Embellish as necessary and, Voila! Shaped card!

Hope that helps some of you who were wondering !

Wishing you all a very happy World Card Making Day and hoping you get time to get inky today!

Birthday Wishes….

Hey!

Hope y’all had a fabby Bank Holiday (for those of us in the UK!) I can’t believe we actually had sunshine here in Sheffield LOL!

Just poppin‘ in today with a super simple card that probably took longer to make than you could possibly imagine:

The reason it took so long was not only the fiddly cutting of those leaves, but because I decided to try to make my own flower embellishment! If I do this again, I’ll definitely be wearing plastic gloves – yup, that ink tends to really stain your fingers LOL! However, on the plus side these flowers are pretty easy to make: simply die cut a few from white cardstock, cover in ink (or spritz with glimmer mist!), scrunch up, let them dry a little, then layer them! Voila! Pretty flower!

A little ‘Die’ crazy!

Happy Wednesday! Half-way to the weekend and it can’t come soon enough! These last two weeks of term are seriously dragging by for me; I’m ready to break up, the students are ready to break up and I even think my stamps are ready for me to break up; I’m sure I can hear them calling me to go play with them. Either that, or the stresses of work are sending me crazy LOL!

So as promised, I’ve found time to take a pic of the second card I created for our current challenge. I’ll warn you, it’s a completely different style of card from my first card and it’s gone a little ‘die’ crazy:

Card Recipe
Stamps: Background Basics: Text Style/Turning a New Leaf/Butterfly Dreams
Ink: Momento London Fog/Spring Moss/Versamark
Card: Hawaiian Shores/Stamper’s Select White/Plum Pudding/Grey (from stash!)
Accessories: Simply Chartreuse Felt/Purple Felt/Medium Scallop Die/Butterfly Die/Nestabilities/Cuttlebug/Detail White EP/Glitter
/Rustic Twine/Hawaiian Shores Vintage Button

Y’see I wasn’t lying; this card features a total of three different dies, two of them being PTI ones! Just goes to show that you can enter our challenge no-matter what style of cardmaker you are *wink*

I’m going to be honest and say that I’m still not 100% about whether I like this card or not…but still, it’s bright and summery and that’s more than can be said for the miserable weather outside my window at the moment. Rain and thunderstorms…it’s starting to look more like the typical British summer by the minute!

Challenge: To ‘Die’ for!

Ready for a new challenge? I thought so!

Don’t be confused by the title of our new challenge; it’s just me being a fan of a cheesy play on words! For our latest challenge we want to see creations that feature the use of Dies. So many of us now own die-cutting machines, and it seems that so many companies (including Papertrey Ink) have released their own dies to co-ordinate with stamp sets, (and in some cases stamp sets that co-ordinate with dies from other companies) that it seemed appropriate to set a challenge based on ’em!

Now don’t feel that you’ve gotta use a PTI die on your creation – remember that your creation only needs to use a single PTI product to qualify for entry to our challenge! Oh and you’re not limited to cards either ;D

Now it’s my turn to host alone this fortnight for now as my partner in PTI crime, Kate is kinda busy! If she finds time, I’m sure she’ll provide a fabulous creation later. Seems like July is a rather busy month for both of us!

Anyways here’s my example for the challenge:

Card Recipe
Stamps: Star Prints/Background Basics: Text Style/Fancy Flourishes/Daily Design Sentiments/Vintage Labels
Ink: Dark Chocolate/Versamark
Card: Vintage Cream/Kraft/New Leaf
Accessories: New Leaf Twill Ribbon/Clear EP
/Cuttlebug/Nestabilities

This card was made for my very own honey’s birthday last Friday, hence the super simple design! And as you can see I used a load of stamps sets on what seems like a very CAS card, along with my Nestabilites rather than a PTI die. I do however have another example to share with y’all later this week that features many PTI dies on one card – stay tuned for that when I find time to photograph it LOL!

Here’s Kate: ” I’m really leaning towards vibrant summer colours this week – no doubt an antidote to the pouring rain! I used my On my Couch set and matching die for the cute polka dot chair”:

Recipe:
Stamps: On my Couch
Card: Stamper’s Select White/Raspberry Fizz
Ink: Raspberry Fizz/Summer Sunrise/Aqua Mist/True Black
Papers: Bitty Dot Basics 2009 – Summer Sunrise
Other: Raspberry Fizz ribbon/Labels One dies

Wanna play along but wondering what to do if you haven’t got a die-cutting machine?! How about finding a crafty peep to post you a few die-cut shapes to help you out?

So what’s in it for you if you play along? How about a super sweet PTI stamp set?

Yup, the winner will receive the sweet stamp set, Fly Away!

So, you ready to play? Here’s the deets:

* All entries must contain at least one PTI product to qualify

* To enter, use our inlinkz thingy at the bottom of this post. If you’re having problems then just leave a comment with a link to your post featuring the project on your blog or online gallery.

* Worldwide entries are more than welcome to share the inspiration and can be in with a chance of being a Top 3 PTI Passionista, but unfortunately prizes can only be shipped within Europe!

* Challenge closes on Monday, July 26th 2010 at 9.00am GMT

* A winner will be chosen at random to receive some PTI goodies! In addition to this, we’ll select the top three creations we like the most and feature them on the Blog. The top three PTI Passionistas will have chance to display a Top 3 Passionista Blinkie on their own blog.

OK crafty peeps, go get die cutting!

Normality…

…I’m nearly back to it!

I’m so sorry that I’ve been too busy to blog/create recently. As you may or may not know my family and I have had a couple of stressful weeks with my dad going in for major heart surgery. The good news is that although there were some scary times, he’s now home safe and sound. It’s a long recovery process but things are starting to get back to normal around here…

…so what does normal mean for me?! Well getting inky of course! So I’ve managed to create a card for our current challenge – big hugs and thanks to my PTI partner in crime, Kate for holding the fort whilst I was MIA!

I couldn’t resist indulging in some Hawaiian Shores for my summertime creation – I love it! I only wish the weather was more in the spirit of summer when I took this pic LOL!

That butterfly was cut using a PTI die and my Cuttlebug from a sheet of thin metal. It cut like buttah! The embossing was done after, and glossy accents proved a fab glue to fix it to the ribbon. I love how I can bend the wings into shape to add that extra dimension; I don’t think this will be the last metal butterfly you see from me *wink*

Card Recipe
PTI Supplies
Stamps: Friends ’til the End/Background Basics: Text Style
Ink: Hawaiian Shores/Spring Moss
Card: Hawaiian Shores/Stamper’s Select White/New Leaf
Papers: Green Boutique
Accessories: Metal Sheet/Cuttlebug/PTI Butterfly Die/Swiss Dot Embossing Folder/Hawaiian Shores Ribbon/EK Success Border Punch

So that’s my sample for our current challenge – I hope you can play along too! Oh and if you’re reading this very soon after me publishing it, there’s still a few hours to play along with Chris’ fantastic challenge in which you can win some fab PTI DPs!

Your Favourite Colour!!

Welcome to another Passion for Papertrey challenge! This time we’re going to ask a very simple question…. what’s your favourite colour?!!

And then of course make a card using your top choice – the colour doesn’t have to be a Papertrey Ink colour if you don’t have all the colours, but, as always, must include at least one PTI product 🙂

Anyone who knows me no doubt is aware of my obsession with all things Aqua and Turquoise so it was a toss up between Aqua Mist and Hawai’in Shores – Aqua Mist has always been my favourite colour but it got some serious competition when I received my Hawai’in Shores colour! Torn between the two I decided to go with the newest addition to my colour collection 🙂

Recipe:

Stamps: Asian Fusion/Polka Dot Basics/Mega Mixed Messages
Card – Hawai’in Shores/Stampers Select White/True Black
Ink – Hawai’in Shores/True Black
Other – Corner Chomper

Over to Aimes:
“Well I’m not gonna surprise any of ya! Anyone who knows me, knows that my all time favourite colour is green. Pretty much any shade of green will float my boat. Not that I don’t love any other colours, just that if I had to pick only one then without a doubt, it’d be green! So without further ado, here’s my example:”

Card Recipe
Stamps: Background Basics: Text Style/Turning a New Leaf/Friends ’til the End
Ink: Distress Ink Antique Linen/PTI Spring Moss
Card: Kraft/Vintage Cream
Papers: Bitty Box Basics/Turning a New Leaf
Accesories: EK Success Border Punch/Dark Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon/Sewing Machine/3D Foam Pads

As our featured stamper this month, Marinette couldn’t choose between her two favourtie colours: Red and Kraft! So she did what any other crafty peep would do and use both LOL!

Supplies:
PTI kraft and Pure Poppy, Ink Pure Poppy, tiny tag “Birthday Wishes” stamped with “Mega mixed Messages”, stamp PTI “Happy Birthday “Say it with style” , PTI “heart print” ink pure poppy, stamp PTI “delightful dahlia” ink pure poppy

We all know how incredibly talented and creative she is so it really should come as no surprise… and it’s not the first time she’s won either!!! So a BIG congrats hun!!!!

This card was made for my lovely blogging buddy Caryn, and also is my very belated sample for our recent embossing challenge (what can I say… I was too busy sunning myself in California lol!)
